<p>The University of Colorado’s Division of Continuing Education has come a long way from its humble beginnings in young Macky Auditorium where burlap bags separated staff space in 1912 and the division offered 28 correspondence courses in 11 fields. Today, Continuing Education partners with CU’s academic departments to offer flexible credit courses representing 35 departments and multiple programs granting nontraditional students and community members access to campus.</p>

<p>Five �鶹��Ѱ����� engineering students recently returned from Haiti where they introduced a green energy vocational training program, paving the way for a new era of distributed power in the poverty-stricken, earthquake-damaged nation.</p>

<p>Colorado business leaders are less optimistic going into the third quarter than last quarter, according to the most recent quarterly Leeds Business Confidence Index, or LBCI, released today by the �鶹��Ѱ�����’s Leeds School of Business.</p>
<p>The LBCI’s reading slid from 62.2 in the second quarter to 53.6 in the third, but remained higher than the 10-year average for the index and above the critical neutral mark of 50. A reading greater than 50 indicates positive expectations, while one lower than 50 indicates negative expectations.</p>

<p>Boulder city officials today announced that the annual Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast is canceled due to extremely dry conditions in and around Boulder. The fireworks show had been scheduled for Folsom Field on Wednesday, July 4.</p>

<p>Seven �鶹��Ѱ����� graduate students and alumni will go abroad during the 2012-13 academic year to pursue a variety of studies, research and teaching projects as grantees of the prestigious Fulbright program.</p>
<p>Their proposed subjects range from exploring desertification knowledge in Mali and the impact of collaboration with a foreign development agency, to studying medieval Islamic philosophy in Egypt and its potential to inform debates in Anglo-American moral philosophy.</p>

<p>The �鶹��Ѱ�����’s volleyball and basketball practice facility has received a LEED platinum rating -- the highest designation -- from the United States Green Building Council.</p>
<p class="p1">It is the first LEED-certified athletic facility on the CU-Boulder campus and one of only two platinum-rated athletic facilities in the Pac-12. LEED certification is a U.S. benchmark for sustainable design and construction.</p>

<p>On Sunday, May 20, Coloradans will see a “bite” taken out of the sun as the moon moves across the sun causing a partial solar eclipse. The eclipse starts at 6:22 p.m. with maximum eclipse at 7:30 p.m. and the sun will set at 7:50 p.m.</p>

<p>�鶹��Ѱ����� twin sophomores Srinidhi Radhakrishnan and Saikripa Radhakrishnan -- both chemical and biological engineering majors -- have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships.</p>
<p>The scholarships are worth up to $7,500 for educational expenses each year and are given to students who intend to pursue careers in the fields of math, science or engineering.</p>

<p>The latest in electric vehicle technology -- including cars, motorcycles, bicycles and charging systems -- will be showcased in the west parking lot of the �鶹��Ѱ�����’s Wolf Law Building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17.</p>
<p>A screening of the documentary “Revenge of the Electric Vehicle” with a question-and-answer session will be held later that day from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room 1B20 of the CU-Boulder Visual Arts Complex. Both events, including refreshments and door prizes donated by local sponsors, are free and open to the public.</p>
