- <p>A new educational partnership at the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ will provide expanded degree options for working professionals interested in specialized graduate education focused on energy and water.</p>
<p>Beginning this fall, qualified students can earn both a Master of Engineering (ME) degree and a Professional Certificate in Renewable and Sustainable Energy or a Professional Certificate in Water Engineering and Management. The degree and certificates can be earned either via distance education or in campus classes and may be pursued either part- or full-time.</p>
<p>The Howard Hughes Medical Institute has awarded the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ $1.5 million over five years to continue to transform science education by encouraging more real-world research experiences for undergraduates, ranging from cancer studies to screenings for new antibiotics.</p>
<p>A Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ professor who developed a clever method to measure snow depth using GPS signals is collaborating with Western Slope officials to make the data freely available to a variety of users on a daily basis.</p>- <p>The Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ today launched CU-Boulder Crowdfunding, an online pilot platform to help drive the ideas generated by students, faculty and staff.</p>
<p>Crowdfunding is the practice of sourcing small contributions from a large number of people to provide funding for a particular project or campaign, usually via the Internet.</p> - <p>The Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ will hold its spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 9, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Folsom Field.</p>
<p>Due to traffic delays, and ongoing construction on U.S. 36 leading into Boulder, early arrival is strongly advised. Gates open at 7 a.m. and guests should plan to be seated by 8:15 a.m. The ceremony will be held outdoors in the stadium regardless of the weather. In the event of heavy rain or snow an abbreviated ceremony will be held.</p>
<p>A deployable fire hose stand designed for the Longmont Fire Department and a heat-resistant mask designed to protect firefighters and fire victims from poisonous fumes will be among more than 90 student inventions showcased at the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂ﯉۪s Engineering Design Expo on Saturday, April 26.</p>
<p>The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a wide range of student-built devices including adaptive technology for people with disabilities, Rube Goldberg machines and even hovercrafts.</p>- <p>The Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy (RMLA) will offer a one-of-a-kind immersive educational opportunity for lighting professionals this summer at the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ.</p>
<p>The RMLA’s Summer Lighting Course is scheduled for June 23-27 on the CU-Boulder campus. The course will present the theory of lighting within a practical context, making it directly applicable to the needs of those working in engineering, product development and technical sales positions.</p> - <p>The Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ today announced the hiring of Timothy Orr as producing artistic director of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival.</p>
<p>Orr has been serving as interim director since February 2013 and was hired at the conclusion of a nationwide search for a permanent director.</p>
<p>Orr has been with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival as a performer since 2007 and joined the staff as the associate producing director in 2011. </p> - <p>The Conference on World Affairs at the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ will livestream selected sessions online April 7-11 and also will make them available for viewing on-demand once the event has concluded.</p>
<p>CWA will livestream sessions in Macky Auditorium and in the University Memorial Center’s central Glenn Miller Ballroom. The sessions will remain available for viewing through Friday, April 18.</p>
<p>A free, downloadable guide for individuals who want to collect baseline data on their well water quality and monitor their groundwater quantity over time was released this week by the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂ﯉۪s Colorado Water and Energy Research Center (CWERC).</p>
