What is the Business Leadership Certificate?
The Business Leadership Certificate gives students the opportunity to intentionally develop leadership skills through coursework, personal growth and experiences beyond the classroom. The certificate is not only for students who plan to become managers or pursue formal leadership positions. It is designed for Leeds students who want to build skills, knowledge and experiences that can support them throughout their careers. Whether your path eventually involves leading a team, starting a company, contributing to important projects, or simply becoming more effective in how you work with others, the certificate provides an opportunity to intentionally invest in your personal and professional development.听
The goal is to help students develop skills they can draw on as they begin their careers, work with others, navigate new challenges and take on new opportunities and responsibilities.

The Business Leadership Certificate is designed for Leeds students interested in strengthening their leadership skills and supporting their personal and professional development.
It may be a good fit if you:
- Are interested in learning about the art and science of leadership
- Want to better understand yourself and your potential
- Are interested in personal as well as professional development
- Want to build skills that can support you during your early career experiences
- Want opportunities to practice leadership concepts and tools
- Are interested in starting a company or contributing to projects that create change
You do not need to already see yourself as a 鈥渓eader鈥 to participate. The certificate provides an opportunity to develop skills and experiences that can support you throughout your career.

Students must complete approved Leadership Experience(s) that take learning beyond the classroom.
Approved experiential learning opportunities include:
- Coaching Program 鈥 offered by the Center for Leadership and free to students in the certificate program
- Boulder-麻豆免费版下载Leadership Program 鈥 offered by the Center for Leadership and free to students in the certificate program
- River Conservation Leadership Expedition 鈥 offered by the Center for Leadership; additional cost applies
- Mindful Campus Program 鈥 offered by the Ren茅e Crown Wellness Institute and free to students
- Have another leadership experience in mind? Contact leadershipcert@colorado.edu before completing the experience to determine whether it can be approved for the certificate.
The certificate includes a Team Project that allows students to demonstrate their understanding and application of modern leadership dynamics.
The Team Project is embedded directly into ORGN 3030 鈥 Critical Leadership Skills, one of the required courses for the certificate. Students complete the Team Project as part of the course, so there is no separate Team Project requirement to complete outside of ORGN 3030.

How Do I Complete the Certificate?
Once you have completed the required coursework and experiential learning requirements:

Step 1: Create a Google Drive or OneDrive Folder
Include:
- Evidence of your completed experiential learning experience, such as a certificate, verification email, or screenshot
- A screenshot of your course audit verifying that you have completed the required certificate coursework
Step 2: Share Your Folder
Share your completed folder with Faculty Director Al Pisano at:
Al.Pisano@colorado.edu
Make sure the folder permissions allow the Faculty Director to view all documents.
Step 3: Email the Certificate Program
Once you have shared your folder, email:
leadershipcert@colorado.edu
Include your name and shared folder link and indicate that you have completed the requirements and are ready to have your Business Leadership Certificate completion reviewed.
