Boulder Climate Ventures (BCV) is an interdisciplinary series of classes that equip students to develop and launch high-impact startups focused on climate solutions.听
Led by the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the Leeds School of Business, and in partnership with the College of Engineering and Applied Science, BCV combines market-driven course work with hands-on venture creation, enabling students to transform climate innovations into scalable business.听
The program is made possible through support from Breakthrough Energy Discovery, a global initiative founded by Bill Gates to accelerate innovation in clean technologies.听
Who should be involved?
BCV attracts students from Business, Engineering, Science, Law and Policy. The interdisciplinary structure of our classes reflects the complexity of climate challenges and enables holistic, systems-level solutions. 听Classes are graduate level though advanced undergraduates may inquire. 听
External advisors, founders, and investors interested in supporting climate innovations and a growing ecosystem in the Denver metro area should also reach out. 听听

Business Opportunities in Climate Tech (Fall 2026)
鈥淏usiness Opportunities in Climate Tech鈥 is an 8-week seminar led by which consists of lectures from industry experts, founders and investors about business opportunities in the climate space. 听In addition to lectures, the seminar includes class socials and opportunities for small group discussions with external partners.听
"Business Opportunities in Climate Tech" is open to students, faculty and community members.听
New in 2026! Students can enroll in for 1.5 credits.

听Clean Tech Venture Discovery (Spring 2027)
Clean Tech Venture Discovery is taught by Professor Mike McGehee (Chemical and Biological Engineering), with support from external advisors with expertise in venture capital and startup formation. The class is designed to be a venture-building experience where student teams validate market demand, build & refine business models and develop authentic customer discovery networks that can support a startup launch in the future. 听
