Researchers at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder are conducting an in-person research study examining how adults with chronic pain read and understand informational texts.

If you choose to participate, you will complete a reading and comprehension task while your eye movements are recorded using an eye-tracking system on a computer screen. You will also complete questionnaires about your background, health and everyday experiences.

The study involves one in-person visit at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder and will take approximately 90 minutes. Participants who complete all study procedures will receive $30 per hour in compensation.

Eye tracking is a non-invasive method that uses a camera-based system to measure where you look on a computer screen while completing the reading task.

Participation is voluntary. You may stop participating at any time.

The Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic will return to Boulder on Sunday, Sept. 13, raising scholarship funds for Colorado students attending Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder. The event will feature routes for cyclists of all ages and abilities and has raised millions of dollars for student scholarships since its founding.

The celebration will continue on Monday, Sept. 21, with a special screening of "No Hands: The Wild Ride of the Schwinn Bicycle Company" at 7:30 p.m. in Muenzinger Auditorium. Executive producer and Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder alum Jim Packer will attend in person. 

Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder faculty members, staff members and graduate students looking to fund partnership development, a public outreach event or establish seed funding for a community-engaged scholarship project can apply to a Fall Tier 1 or Tier 2 Public and Community Engaged Scholarship Grant. 

The PACES Grant has awarded over $7 million dollars since 1999 and is made possible by the Office of Outreach and Community Engagement. 

Tier 1 grants are now open and will be awarded until all funding has been expended.

Tier 2 applications are due Friday, Sept. 25 at 11:59 p.m.

Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder's Campus Compact team is leading a student-centered initiative to assess and strengthen graduate student engagement in community-engaged scholarship across research, teaching, and creative work.

The Integrative Physiology of Aging Lab at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder is seeking volunteers to participate in a clinical research study. They are looking for adults, ages 40-plus, who are willing to participate in water-immersion sessions approximately three times per week for 12 weeks and have above-normal blood pressure (a top number of 115 or higher; if you are unsure of your blood pressure, please still contact the lab for screening). 

Benefits for volunteers include: cardiovascular health assessment, exercise stress test, body composition, blood chemistries and monetary compensation for time.

The SPIKE Center for Sustainability Education is launching an inaugural Renewable Energy Career Accelerator. The single objective of the accelerator is to enable students to gain jobs and internships in the renewable energy sector. Powered by industry professionals, the accelerator enables participants to develop networks, learn hard skills and receive guidance from a personal mentor. 

The program will meet in the UMC on Tuesdays 4:30–5:30 p.m. Oct. 20–Nov. 17 and then again Jan. 12–March 2. It is free to students but does not provide academic credit.

Earn $25 per hour (up to approximately $400 total) for up to three study session phases (1.75 hours).
