The Department of Women and Gender Studies (WGST) offers different job opportunities for academic, research, and administrative related positions throughout the year. The number and type of positions available will vary in any given semester.
The Department of Women and Gender Studies Honors Program is designed to give majors the opportunity to pursue rigorous interdisciplinary research and writing under the close supervision and mentorship of a Women and Gender Studies faculty member. Students also receive public recognition at commencement and at the Honors Program convocation for successful completion and defense of their thesis.
The Women and Gender Studies Creative Activism Award recognizes outstanding undergraduate creative work, broadly defined, that raises awareness around issues of race, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender identity.
The WGST Design Award is a periodically awarded opportunity that allows undergraduate WGST/QTS majors and minors to submit their original designs for an updated WOmen & Gender Studies design that will be utilized in future promotion of the program, and on swag items.Â
The Women and Gender Studies Student Leadership Practicum, also known as Gender Justice League, or WGST 3940, is designed to give students the opportunity to put what they learn about social justice into practice.
Every spring, graduating/senior Women & Gender Studies majors take WGST 4800: Senior Colloquium in Feminist Studies. This class provides students with the opportunity to actively reflect on their education and to complete a research/community project that incorporates an interdisciplinary and feminist approach to the study of gender, class, race, ethnicity and sexuality.Â
The Department of Women and Gender Studies invites applications for funding from our Student Professional Development Fund. Awards of up to $250 will be available for undergraduate student projects that further the mission of the field of women and gender studies.
