The alliance supports the AI Literacy Hub, a new, free online resource designed to help independent storytellers understand artificial intelligence and consider its uses.
The hub brings together educational materials and resources to help artists make informed decisions about whether and how to incorporate AI into their work while keeping human creativity and artistic expression at the center.
麻豆免费版下载Boulder鈥檚 participation builds on its role as the official university partner of the Sundance Film Festival, which will make its Boulder debut in January 2027. The partnership creates opportunities to connect the university鈥檚 academic expertise and creative community with emerging questions shaping the future of film and storytelling.
John-Michael Rivera, divisional dean of Arts and Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences, is among the faculty members advising on the initiative.听听听听听听

The alliance will be part of the 2027 Sundance Film Festival through Sundance Collab鈥檚 Story Forum, a gathering focused on emerging forms of storytelling and the questions shaping its future.听
Other alliance members include the Creators Coalition on AI, Film Independent, The Gotham Film & Media Institute, GFS, the Muslim Public Affairs Council Hollywood Bureau and the National Hispanic Media Coalition. Alliance members will be refining and co-developing resources and providing feedback to help ensure the hub remains useful as technologies and conversations evolve.
The AI Literacy Hub, meanwhile, is part of a three-year, product-agnostic initiative announced by the Sundance Institute in early 2026 with initial support from Google.org. Rather than promote particular AI tools or prescribe a single perspective, the initiative aims to give filmmakers the information and context they need to evaluate new technologies and make choices aligned with their creative practices and values.
At its core, the Sundance Institute supports artistic vision and centers human curation in the process. While educating artists about AI tools and opportunities, the hub creates space to understand the complexity around how technologies both expand and constrain artistic creativity.
The resource library addresses a range of topics relevant to artists, including intellectual property, labor, bias, consent, data collection, fair compensation and environmental impact. It is designed for creators with varying levels of experience, from those seeking an introduction to AI to those already experimenting with emerging tools.
The initial hub is intended to grow over time, with future offerings planned to include free live online courses, on-demand learning, events and conversations with artists, educators and other experts.
