UMC dining returns this fall with updated spaces and a new campus café
The University Memorial Center (UMC) is ready to welcome the campus community back after a major infrastructure improvement project that modernized building systems and refreshed dining spaces.
Just in time for the fall semester, students, faculty, staff and visitors can enjoy the return of UMC dining locations, the upcoming opening of Baby Doe’s caféand new dining updates at Alferd Packer Grill.
UMC dining reopening schedule
Dining locations will reopen on a rolling schedule throughout August:
- North, East and West Dining Rooms: Aug. 10
- UMC Market: Aug. 13
- Alferd Packer Grill: Aug. 16
- Infinitus Pie: Aug. 17
- Subway: Aug. 17
- Baby Doe’s: Opening date to be announced
Events Planning & Catering returns to full service
Events Planning & Catering will be fully operational for the fall semester with the completion of the UMC HVAC project.
Beginning Aug. 17, the department’s full catering menu will be available for campus meetings, conferences, celebrations and special events. Whether you’re planning a small meeting or a large campus event, the team is ready to help with catering and event planning services.
What’s new this fall
Baby Doe’s returns to the UMC
The UMC will welcome the return of Baby Doe’s, a campuscaféserving pastries, coffee, espresso drinks and bakery items.
Named after Colorado historical figure Elizabeth “Baby Doe” Tabor, the café brings back a familiar name with a refreshed concept. Baby Doe’s previously served the 鶹ѰBoulder community. Starbucks and Panda Express will no longer operate in the UMC.
Takeout is changing at Alferd Packer Grill
Beginning Aug. 16, the USEFULL reusable takeout container program launches at Alferd Packer Grill. Disposable takeout containers will no longer be available at this location.
Students, faculty, staff and visitors who would like takeout can create a free USEFULL account and use the app to check out and return reusable containers. Learn more about how the program works before your next visit.
Behind-the-scenes improvements
While much of the work happened behind the scenes, the completed project included upgrades to the UMC’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, improvements to kitchen infrastructure and the loading dock, updated lighting and accessibility enhancements. These investments will support dining operations and help create a more comfortable, reliable experience for everyone who visits the UMC.
