Linguistics is a friendly major and minor that can productively be combined with study in a variety of other disciplines. Many of our majors combine linguistics with a second or third BA degree, such as Anthropology, Classics, Computer Science, Education, International Affairs, Neuroscience, Psychology, Sociology, Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences, or any of the many language and literature degrees offered at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder. If you are looking for an exciting degree program that encourages interdisciplinary connection beyond the home department and can easily be completed in four years, Linguistics is for you!

As a LING major, you will receive the Arts and Sciences four-year graduation guarantee if you follow the plan outlined below. This plan can easily be adapted to fit your needs from semester to semester.Ìý

• Declare the major by the second semester of your freshman year.Ìý
• Start your required language study (unless this requirement is waived) by the beginning of the sophomore year and continue it without interruption.
• Complete LING 2000 and either LING 1000 orÌýLING 2400 by the end of the sophomore year.
• Take eitherÌýLING 3430 orÌýLING 4420 during the fall of the junior year.
• TakeÌýLING 3100 and an upper-division LING elective in the spring of the junior year.
• Take the remaining required course and an elective in the fall of the senior year, and the remaining electives in the spring of the senior year.
• And then graduate with a prestigious BA in Linguistics from Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder!
