Dr. Sconiers develops and coordinates programming that supports teaching and clinical faculty as they navigate the unique challenges of their careers. He welcomes ideas for workshops and pedagogical approaches that can enhance faculty members’ classroom experiences. Dr. Sconiers is especially enthusiastic about supporting teaching and clinical faculty at Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder, particularly those who are new to campus and charting their professional paths. More recently, Dr. Sconiers was named the faculty associate director for curriculum at the SPIKE Center for Sustainability Education.Ìý

Dr. Sconiers is an insect ecologist whose research has explored the effects of drought stress, plant physiology, and insect species composition. He earned his Ph.D. in Entomology at Texas A&M and has held teaching and research positions at North Carolina State University and the University of the Ozarks. At Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder, he teaches and conducts research on arthropod diversity and climate-driven changes in plant physiology at the Mountain Research Station. In collaboration with Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder’s Center for Teaching and Learning and faculty in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Dr. Sconiers also studies how to enhance student engagement and learning in large classrooms through peer collaboration, course community building, and evidence-based pedagogy.Ìý
