Burke Hilsabeck leads efforts to build faculty community and positive work culture on campus, trains academic leaders, and helps faculty and academic leaders handle faculty conflicts and unprofessional behavior. He assists the Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs in developing and applying policies, procedures, and training programs related to academic personnel and consulting with faculty on professional concerns and academic administrators on personnel matters, helping to create and maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for faculty members from diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Burke is a former tenured faculty member at the University of Northern Colorado, where he directed the Film Studies program and served as chair of the Department of English. He holds a B.A. in English from Kenyon College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. He is the author of The Slapstick Camera: Hollywood and the Comedy of Self-Reference (SUNY, 2020).
