What is PES?

The Program in Exploratory Studies provides the resources and guidance to help you discover and shape your academic and career journey. We offer Advising for students admitted to PES with the goal of helping them achieve their desired major and helping them with their academic journey.Ìý

PES is designed to help students successfully transfer into their college of choice. We help students who are unsure of what they want to do, decide on a path and help them explore their options. This is a great opportunity for students to have the room to explore majors and find their interests before settling on a major.

PES Summer Advising:

  • Incoming first-year and transfer students:Ìý
    • Schedule an "Incoming 1st Year" or "Incoming Transfer" advising appointment before your summer orientation session in Buff Portal Advising
      • Follow theseÌý to schedule an academic advising appointment through Buff Portal Advising.
  • Continuing students:Ìý
  • PES Drop-In Advising will resume on August 20, 2026

In-person: Advising is located in the CASE building (2nd floor, east side). Check in at the kiosk in the PES Advising Lobby.

Virtual: Log in toÌýBuff Portal Advising, click on the Program in Exploratory Studies tile with the explorer iconÌýon the left side of your screen.ÌýIn the Meetings Filter, change the format to "Video Advising." Click the blue "Available Appointments" button. Select the appointment time that works best works for you. Note: You may be asked to choose a meeting format on the pop-up screen). You will see a link to the advisor's Zoom meeting room to the right of the appointment button. You will also receive an email 24 hours before your scheduled appointment with the advisor's Zoom link.
