The ENVS curriculum was designed to provide a well-rounded, broad education in environmental issues in order to prepare students for the complex world. It is an interdisciplinary major, which means that students take courses from about twelve different majors at CU.

Yes! The ENVS Minor was launched in Fall 2025. The Minor consists of 20 credits of classes in ENVS, including a range of introductory and specialist courses.

Academic internships are for credit and may be paid or unpaid, depending on the host organization; some pay hourly or offer stipends, or pay for expenses.ÌýThese are arrangements made between you and your internship organization, independent of ENVS and the University of Colorado.

Choose an internship that best suits your career path. For example, if you are interested in sustainable food development, seek an internship on a farm.Ìý

The general Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØCommencement is where all undergraduate and graduate students officially receive their degrees. Students stand as their programs of study are called but are not recognized as individuals. Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØmaintains a website with specific information about the event for students and family members. There is no Commencement ceremony in the summer or fall. Summer and fall graduates may take part in the May ceremonies the year they graduate.

Most departments, including the Environmental Studies department, hold recognition ceremonies where students are called by name. The Environmental Studies event is typically the day beforeÌýthe university commencement ceremony. Information is published to the department Graduation page and emailed to graduating students.
