The college uses a variety of surveys to gather information from existing students, alumni, employers, and others to help inform our judgments about what improvements we can make.

Administered each fall and spring to undergraduate students prior to graduation, the Senior Survey gathers feedback on:

  • Overall satisfaction with the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the student's department/program
  • The undergraduate academic experience, including courses, curriculum, academic advising, and learning resources
  • Student reflections on the most valuable and most challenging aspects of their experience
  • Self-assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Participation in co-curricular opportunities, student organizations, research, internships, and other college-sponsored programs
  • Post-graduation plans, including employment, graduate school, and other educational pursuits

Administered to master's and doctoral students as they graduate, the Graduating Graduate Student Survey gathers information on:

  • Overall satisfaction with the College of Engineering and Applied Science, and the student's graduate program
  • Scholarly and professional accomplishments, including publications, conference presentations, and research activities
  • Student reflections on the most valuable and most challenging aspects of their graduate experience
  • Post-graduation plans, including employment, further education, postdoctoral appointments, and career aspirations
