This program is designed for working professionals in the industry. It is not intended to train Ph.D.students or train research students.

Other institutions and universitiesmay accept transfer credit from the MS-ECE on Coursera program at their discretion.

Yes. You must complete all degree requirements within eight years, including pathway courses. During that time, you may take breaks for one or more sessions, either consecutively or non-consecutively.

However, students admitted to the degree program who do not enroll for two consecutive years will be discontinued until they enroll in a new for-credit course.

Yes, students who successfully completedthe MS-ECE degree will be invited to campus for graduation.

You will receive your diploma around two months after you complete your course work.

You should verify both your name that will appear on your diploma, as well as the address your diploma will be mailed to in your Buff Portal. You will need toUpdate Your Contact Informationif your name and/or home address are not listed correctly before the session deadline.

You also have access to a Certified Electronic Diploma & Certificate (CeDiplomas/CeCertificates). Eligibility and Admissions

There are no formally enforced prerequisites for the MS-ECE on Coursera. Each course may recommend a variety of prerequisite skills and knowledge. To learn more about each subject and help better prepare you for the course, our faculty recommends visiting.

If you are unsure whether you have the background to succeed,we encourage students to enroll in the non-credit course first. This will allow you to test your abilities and practice the skills required to pass the course and all assessments once you upgrade to a for-credit experience.

Step 2: In theMore Items section of this card, click the鶹ѰBoulder on Coursera Program Action Form.

Step 3: SelectDeclare or Permanently Discontinue a Program at the top of the form, check the box(es) for the program(s) and/or certificate(s) you wish to declare, and submit the form.

Coursework

Up to 9 credits offered by 鶹ѰBoulder's MS-DS, ME-EM, MS-CS or MS-AIon Coursera programs may be applied toward the total 30 credit hours required to complete the MS-ECE degree.

See “What is the ‘No double-dipping’ rule?” below for restrictions on applying the same coursework to multiple credentials.

  • Courses may not be double-counted toward two credentials of the same level. This means students can apply credit from a particular course toward one graduate certificate and one graduate degree, but they cannot apply credit from a particular course toward two graduate certificates or two graduate degrees.
  • Students may not double count courses between multiple certificates.
  • Students wishing to complete degrees in more than one program must complete all the requirements for both degrees with no shared or overlapping course work.

Yes, you must maintain a minimum 3.00cumulative GPA throughout the program to remain in good academic standing.

Non-credit

  • Non-credit courses are on-demand and flexible.
  • Non-credit courses havea monthly subscription fee paid only to Coursera.
  • Non-credit completion certificates do not imply the conferral of credit from the 鶹Ѱ nor appear on the student’s transcript.

For-credit

  • For-credit courses will have very specific session start and end dates. Each session is 8 weeks long. There is never any 'extension' of time nor of tuition. A final exam must be scheduled no later than Tuesday of the 8th week.
  • For-credit tuitionis $667 per credit hour paid only to 鶹Ѱ (鶹ѰBoulder).
  • For-credit canearn the same credentials as our on-campus students.Additional material and assessments must be completed to earn credit; these materials are only available to students who pay tuition.

You may upgrade from non-credit to for-credit at any time during the enrollment window. Previously completed assignments will be automatically applied to your for-credit experience.

Note: If you started the non-credit course within the same month that you enroll in a for-credit course, you will not receive a refund for the monthly subscription associated with the non-credit course.The monthly subscription fee is paid to Coursera, not to the 鶹Ѱ.

There are a dedicated number of course facilitators that hold weekly office hours where you can interact with and ask them questions about the material being covered.

Some courses may require a lab or development kit.

Non-credit courses

  • Non-credit courses have no time limit.

For-credit courses

  • If you have accessed restricted content (usually the final exam or project), you will receive a letter grade based on the work you completed before the end of the session. This includes a final exam or project grade, even if you did not finish the assignment.
  • If you have not accessed restricted content, you can drop or withdraw from a course, depending on your timeline. See the Registrar's Special Programs page for information and forms related to drops, refunds, and withdrawal.
  • Tuition payments cannot be rolled over to future sessions.

Once a session is closed, a student will only have access to the ungraded items. The graded itemssuch as homework, quizzes, final examwill be locked upon session close.

Exams and Proctoring

ProctorU is an online proctoring service that allows students to complete exams or project-based assessments online. This service ensures exam integrity and accountability for any test-taker with internet access using only a computer and a webcam. ProctorU monitors exam takers in three ways:

  • By using secure identity verification to ensure that the person taking the test is the correct student.
  • By employing a human proctor to monitor the test taker through a webcam. You’ll be connected to a real person to guide you through the process.
  • Proctor watches the students’ screen in real time and can see everything the student is doing.

ProctorU is available 24/7, however, you will need to schedule your proctoring session at least 72 hours in advance of your desired session.

No. Once you start the exam, the timer begins counting down and cannot be paused. Additional time will not be given.

Students are responsible for ensuring they have a stable exam environment. Coursera and 鶹ѰBoulder are not responsible for internet connectivity issues. See the MS-ECE Student Handbook for more information.

No. If you do not pass the course, you must re-enroll in the course in a future session and pay tuition again.

Finances

If you are taking a non-credit class, you only pay the monthly Coursera subscription fee.

If you are taking a for-credit class, you only pay the $667 per credit hour tuition fee and only to University of Colorado (鶹ѰBoulder).

Note: If you started the non-credit course within the same month that you enroll in a for-credit course, you will not receive a refund for the monthly subscription associated with that non-credit course because the subscription fee is paid to Coursera, not to the 鶹Ѱ.

Each student may drop a class if they are within 14 days from the class start date or their enrollment date (whichever is later).

To receive a full refund, two requirements must be met: each student must submit a drop request within 14 days from the class start date or their enrollment date, whichever is later; and they must not have accessed restricted content in the course. A refund will be returned to their credit card in 7-10 business days. When a course is dropped under these conditions, it will not appear on the student’s record.

Yes, students taking for-credit classes receive an official @colorado.edu email address.

Since the MS-ECE on Coursera program is independent from the on-campus programs, students will not have access to campus facilities.

Students who have been admitted into the degree program will have lifelong access to Handshake through 鶹ѰBoulder Career Services. Handshake is an online employment platform where employers post jobs and hold virtual events. Alumni can also use Handshake as a networking tool to connect with other alumni.

Admitted students also get access to AI Resume Builder by Quinncia. This tool leverages data-science, machine learning, and natural language processing to provide personalized feedback on your resume based on criteria gathered from employers and global best practices.
