CAPS Community Response Team

Support During Campus or Community CrisesÌý

When a distressing event affects campus or the wider community, support is available. The CAPS Community Response Team provides timely, trauma‑informed mental health support following significant events, such as the death of a student or other communitywide crises.Ìý

Support is coordinated with campus partners and the Dean of Students Emergency Response Team and begins as soon as possible. Services may continue for several days, depending on community needs. The goal is to help students feel supported, grounded and connected during difficult moments.Ìý

About our Community Response Team

The Community Response Team is a group of trained CAPS staff who provide targeted support after major campus or community events.Ìý

This support is not therapy. It focuses on short‑term emotional support, practical coping tools and connection to campus resources. Support may take place in spaces where students already live, learn and gather, such as residence halls, classrooms or other campus locations.Ìý
