Adjunct Lecturers for Graduate Courses

The BUENO Center periodically has opportunities for adjunct lecturers to teach graduate-level courses in bilingual and multilingual education. Teaching opportunities are based on program and course needs and are filled on an as-needed basis.

About the Position

• Adjunct lecturers are temporary faculty members hired on a course-by-course basis to teach courses for which they are qualified.
• Appointments are typically made for a single semester or academic term.
• Lecturers are expected to provide high-quality graduate-level instruction, support student learning, and fulfill the instructional responsibilities associated with the assigned course.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• A graduate degree and/or advanced professional experience related to the course or area of instruction.
• Demonstrated expertise in bilingual/multilingual education, literacy, educational equity, or another area relevant to the course.
• Prior experience teaching at the university level is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students, educators, schools, or communities is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The current compensation rate is $7,030 per 3-credit graduate course.

Lecturer appointments are temporary and are eligible for employee sick leave earned monthly on a prorated basis.

Adjunct Lecturers for the High School Equivalency Program (HEP)

The BUENO Center's High School Equivalency Program (HEP) periodically has opportunities for adjunct lecturers to provide instruction to students preparing to earn their high school equivalency credential.

HEP lecturers may teach one or multiple classes based on program needs, student enrollment, instructional areas, and lecturer qualifications.

About the Position

• Adjunct lecturers are temporary faculty members hired to provide instruction in designated HEP subject areas.
• Teaching assignments vary depending on program needs and may include one or multiple classes.
• Lecturers work with HEP students to build the academic knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete their high school equivalency requirements.
• Teaching assignments may vary in length, schedule, and instructional area.

Qualifications

Lecturer qualifications are considered based on a combination of:

• Education and degree level
• Years of relevant teaching and/or professional experience
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject area(s) to be taught

Relevant instructional areas may include language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, Spanish-language instruction, and other areas aligned with HEP programming.

Experience working with adult learners, first-generation students, multilingual learners, migrant or seasonal farmworker communities, or other historically underserved populations is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

HEP lecturer compensation starts at $27.50 per hour and varies based on the teaching assignment and the lecturer’s degree level, years of relevant experience, and area of expertise.

The specific compensation rate or range associated with an available teaching assignment will be provided as part of the recruitment and appointment process.

Student Assistants

The BUENO Center regularly hires undergraduate students to serve as Student Assistants. These positions provide students with opportunities to support BUENO’s work in bilingual education, educational equity, and multilingual communities while gaining professional experience in education, outreach, and program support.

Student Assistants may support a variety of BUENO initiatives, including:

• Outreach and communication with students, families, educators, school districts, and community partners
• Recruitment for teacher preparation, endorsement, and graduate education programs
• Event planning and support for conferences, workshops, family engagement events, and professional learning opportunities
• Administrative support, data entry, record keeping, and preparation of materials
• Data collection related to multilingual learners and educator preparation
• Social media, newsletters, website updates, and other communications activities

Applicants must be current Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder undergraduate students. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, along with strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Preference is given to students pursuing careers in education, particularly those interested in bilingual education, multilingual learners, special education, educational leadership, or community engagement.

Compensation and Employment
