Created through a partnership between the Sustainable Business Club, CU’s Center for Leadership, and the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility (CESR), Ralphie’s Closet is a business clothing swap by students, for students. Established in August 2018, Ralphie’s Closet was created with the goal of providing equitable access to professional attire while promoting sustainable fashion.
What is Ralphie’s Closet About?
Professional clothing is a must for career fairs, interviews, professional events, internships, meetings for organizations, and presentations. However, business clothing can be very costly. As a college student, it can be difficult to justify spending $50 on a piece of clothing that is worn only a few times a semester. In the fashion industry, there are considerable sustainability concerns as well; the clothing and textile industry is one of the highest polluting industries globally,Ìý and contributing to global warming.
Realizing these challenges, Ralphie’s Closet provides students with the opportunity to freely and sustainably obtain necessary business attire. Ralphie’s Closet also accepts donations of gently used business clothing to help the community recycle unwanted items and put them to good use.Ìý
How Can I Use Ralphie’s Closet?
To Use:ÌýStop by anytime during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM in Koelbel 201E) and take what you need! We simply ask that you complete ourÌý QR check-out form so we can track inventory. The system is completely anonymous.
