Kirk Ambrose serves as interim vice provost for academic planning and assessment. In this role, he oversees academic planning, academic policies, degree program review and accreditation efforts.Ìý

A member of the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder faculty since 1999, Ambrose is a professor in the Department of Classics and the founding faculty director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Through his leadership of the CTL, he has worked closely with faculty, staff and campus leaders to support teaching excellence, foster innovation in instruction and advance student success across the university.

An internationally recognized scholar of Byzantine art and architecture, Ambrose's research and teaching focus on the relationship between visual culture, religion and society in the medieval Mediterranean world. He is the author and editor of numerous publications.

Throughout his career, Ambrose has demonstrated a deep commitment to academic excellence, faculty development and student learning. As interim vice provost, he works collaboratively with campus partners to strengthen Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder's academic programs, support institutional effectiveness and advance the university's academic mission.

Ambrose earned a bachelor's degree in art history from Oberlin College, and a master’s and doctorate in history of art from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
