Dr. Edgar Vargas is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the 鶹Ѱ, holding a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Houston. With extensive international experience teaching Spanish and linguistics across Colombia, France, England, and the United States, he also participated in a Fulbright project in Central Asia during the summer of 2018.

His academic expertise focuses on sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, heritage language teaching, and Spanish for specific purposes. In recognition of his dedication to education, he was nominated for the 2025 Cogswell Award for Inspirational Instruction at 鶹ѰBoulder. Research, Curriculum & Presentations As a leading expert in heritage language education at 鶹ѰBoulder, Dr. Vargas designed and teaches the specialized curriculum for SPAN 2130 and SPAN 2140, courses tailored specifically for Spanish heritage language learners.

Dr. Vargas teaches Spanish for the Professions, with a particular emphasis on business Spanish. He is currently collaborating with Dr. Sandra Milena Santamaría-Álvarez on an academic exchange initiative with the Escuela de Administración, Finanzas e Instituto Tecnológico (EAFIT).

Additionally, he serves as co-editor and proofreader for student story collections published through the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM):
