Christine Brennan, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a translational researcher, neuroscientist with expertise in communication and rare neurodevelopmental conditions, and speech-language pathologist specializing in rare diseases and complex communication profiles. Her translational research focuses on improving clinical understanding and real-world outcomes for individuals with unique communication needs. She studies the language and communication phenotype of Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) and communication profiles and challenges in Sanfilippo syndrome (MPS IIIA), autoimmune encephalitis, individuals with complex communication needs, transgender voice. Invention research has focused on the use of AI-based interventions in aphasia and individualized music intervention for a cochlear implant user and professional musician. Her research documents characteristics of unique patient profiles and intervention outcomes to inform evidence-based practice and motivate future research. Dr. Brennan is also an academic fellow of the Institute of Cognitive Science (ICS) at the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ.

Dr. Brennan teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of communication, language disorders and developmental disabilities in school-age children, and acquired language disorders in adults. In SLHS, she currently serves as Chair of the MA-SLP Committee and the academic advisor for all MA-SLP graduate students. Dr. Brennan also serves as the sole speech-language pathologist on the Professional Advisory Board of the PRISMS (Parents and Researchers Interested in Smith-Magenis Syndrome) organization.
