Attend the first class meeting and tell the instructor you're on the waitlist. They may be able to advise you on your chances of being enrolled from the waitlist and whether you should continue to attend the class meetings.

What Happens Next

If a seat becomes available in your waitlisted class:

Between now and when automatic waitlist enrollment ends, the next eligible waitlisted student will be enrolled automatically. If you're enrolled automatically, you'll receive an email confirmation within 24 hours.
After automatic waitlist enrollment ends, contact the department offering the class to see if their policies allow them to enroll you manually. If not, you may want to remain on the waitlist so you're eligible for course reservation, which can guarantee you a seat the next time the course is offered.

After waitlists are canceled, if you still aren't enrolled, you'll lose access to the class's online materials and be removed from the class roster. If you remained on the waitlist, we'll email you a reminder during the next course reservation period. Additional eligibility requirements may apply and some classes are only offered during certain semesters.

What Happens on Academic Alert?

Your unofficial transcript will show that you are on academic alert, but this will not appear on your official transcript. Additionally, you are still eligible to enroll in classes as long as you have resolved your hold(s).

If you improve your cumulative �鶹��Ѱ��GPA to 2.000 by the end of your next semester of enrollment after being placed on academic alert, you will return to good academic standing. We identified a system error that impacted your College Opportunity Fund (COF) authorization. When you completed your preregistration tasks for Spring 2026, you made a selection for COF authorization. This selection also updated your authorization for the Fall 2025 semester in addition to spring, which you may not have wanted.

How to Review Your Current COF Authorization

Go to the College Opportunity Fund (COF) card in Buff Portal (you may be required to log in).
Click View your COF status.
On the COF Authorization/Review page, view the COF Details section for your Fall 2025 status. If the section doesn’t display for you, click Update Authorization to review.

Your Next Steps

If you are happy with your COF status for Fall 2025, no action is needed on your part.

If you’d like to refuse COF for Fall 2025, please contact us before Friday, Jan. 9 and we can assist in updating your COF authorization. After this date, we can no longer change your COF status for Fall 2025, only your status for future terms.

About COF

COF is a stipend that pays a portion of your in-state tuition on a per-credit-hour basis. When you authorize COF, you can choose lifetime authorization or refuse authorization. If you refuse authorization, you’ll be responsible for paying full tuition for the term indicated.
