The course is an eligible undergraduate course offered in Spring 2027* (graduate, department consent-required and controlled-enrollment courses are not eligible).
You meet the requisites for the course.

*Please note: If the course isn't offered in Spring 2027, you may be eligible to request it for Fall 2027 instead. If it's offered next fall, submit a course reservation form during that semester's course reservation period.

Beginning this fall semester, updated procedures for assigning and resolving Incomplete (I) grades will take effect. These changes, made in consultation with the Boulder Faculty Assembly, are intended to improve consistency and the student experience, clarify existing policy, and align with the campus Grade Replacement Policy.

Key Reminders

Incomplete grade requests must be initiated by the student and are appropriate only when circumstances beyond the student's control prevent completion of course requirements.
A substantial portion of the course work must be completed by the student to be eligible for an Incomplete grade.
An Incomplete Grade Agreement must be completed to document remaining work and deadlines for completion (may also use a college/school Incomplete form).
If requirements are not completed within one year of the end of the semester in which the Incomplete was assigned, the grade converts to an F.
Incomplete grades are not eligible for grade replacement until they have been resolved.

What's Changing for Fall 2026 and Later

“Substantial portion” is clarified as the student having at least two-thirds of coursework completed (with a passing grade) to be considered for an Incomplete grade.
Reenrollment is not a means to resolve an Incomplete grade. The student must complete the outstanding coursework and receive a final grade from the instructor within the prescribed resolution period. I grades are no longer made permanent if a student chooses to reenroll.
The notation "Originally graded as Incomplete" will no longer appear on official transcripts.

These changes apply only to Incomplete grades assigned in fall 2026 and later. Incompletes assigned before fall 2026 will continue to follow previous procedures.

Students who've graduated from a degree program aren't allowed to take additional courses in that program; therefore, we've placed you in a nondegree program for fall semester. You're still enrolled in your classes.

Note: If you received an undergraduate degree but are still completing requirements for an additional major, please contact your advisor.

Your Next Steps

Enrollment changes like this one may result in an adjustment to your bill and financial aid package. Check your tuition and fee balance in Buff Portal and visit the Continuing Education website or meet with an advisor to learn more about nondegree tuition and fees.

As a nondegree student, you'll register for Main Campus classes through ACCESS in the future. If you wish to pursue another degree, you may:

Check Your Waitlist Position

On the First Day of Class

Attend the first class meeting and tell the instructor you're on the waitlist. They may be able to advise you on your chances of being enrolled from the waitlist and whether you should continue to attend the class meetings.

What Happens Next

If a seat becomes available in your waitlisted class:

Between now and Aug. 28, the next eligible waitlisted student will be enrolled automatically. If you’re enrolled automatically, you’ll receive an email confirmation within 24 hours.
Between Aug. 29 and Sept. 7, contact the department offering the class to see if their policies allow them to enroll you manually.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, waitlists are canceled. If you still aren't enrolled, you'll lose access to the class's online materials and be removed from the class roster. However, you may be eligible to use course reservation the next time it's offered to guarantee yourself a seat.

What Happens Next

If a seat becomes available in your waitlisted class:

Between now and when automatic waitlist enrollment ends, the next eligible waitlisted student will be enrolled automatically. If you’re enrolled automatically, you’ll receive an email confirmation within 24 hours.
After automatic waitlist enrollment ends, contact the department offering the class to see if their policies allow them to enroll you manually. If not, you may want to remain on the waitlist so you're eligible for course reservation, which can guarantee you a seat the next time the course is offered.

After waitlists are canceled, if you still aren't enrolled, you'll lose access to the class's online materials and be removed from the class roster. If you remained on the waitlist, we'll email you a reminder during the next course reservation period. Additional eligibility requirements may apply and some classes are only offered during certain semesters.

Complete your preregistration items.
Build your shopping cart.
If a class is closed, join the waitlist and use drop if enrolled on a backup class.
If a class you need is only offered on another �鶹��Ѱ��campus, consider intercampus enrollment.
