Heads up: Construction at RTD Table Mesa Park-n-Ride

Work has begun on structural repairs at the Table Mesa Park-n-Ride that require temporary closure of the station plaza area and a few other changes:

For the duration of the project, bus gates B and C in front of the parking garage will be temporarily closed.
Customers arriving via the Flatiron Flyer (FF) or Airport (AB) routes will deboard at the bus stop located along Table Mesa Drive across from the Park-n-Ride.
Customers departing the station aboard the FF or AB routes will board at the south ramp boarding plaza located on the south side of US 36.
Customers can take an elevator to Level 4 of the Park-n-Ride garage to access the pedestrian bridge over US 36 to the south ramp boarding plaza.

The project is estimated to be completed in September 2027. Details and project updates are available on the Boulder Chamber Transportation Connections Table Mesa Park-n-Ride construction article.

All aboard: Colorado’s future passenger rail is on the way

Coloradans recently weighed in on naming the future Front Range passenger rail service—an exciting new train that will connect communities from Fort Collins to Pueblo and offer a faster, cleaner way to travel along the Front Range. Four finalist names were in the mix, and the service is expected to be on the rails in 2029. FRPRD will be hosting town halls throughout the district: Check out the Front Range Passenger Rail District event page to get involved.

Check out transit resources from DRMAC

If you're interested in getting started with transit options like RTD, ebikes, or scooters, the Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council (DRMAC) provides several tools for community members to get started. Take a look at DRMAC's Getting There App for a list of resources for your commute. Community members can also call the Information and Assistance Line to see if they are eligible for free Uber rides to support their transit needs. Check out the DRMAC Resources page for more support, such as training on public transit and planning for future trips.

Bikes

Keep your bike secure with summer bike storage

Unwanted bikes can be donated at the Folsom and UMC bike stations, where they will be refurbished and sold at the annual Bike Sale in the fall. If you’re keeping your bike, the �鶹��Ѱ��Bike Program can store it for you for $20 over the summer. Storage is limited, and bikes are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from April 27 to May 1. Learn more about summer bike storage.

The Bike Program will be accepting bikes for donation or storage in May.

Get rolling: Free bike lessons

Don’t know how to ride a bike? It's never too late to learn. Email bicycle@colorado.edu to schedule a private lesson with a bike instructor. This service is for �鶹��Ѱ��students, faculty and staff.

Join biking classes from the ECenter

If you're ready to hop back on your bike this spring, check out the bike classes from the E-Center offered this month:

Beginner Gravel Ride (�鶹��Ѱ��students only): April 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Street Art Bike Tour, April 15: 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Women's Intro to Mountain Biking: April 18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Street Art Bike Tour, April 22: 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Intro to Mountain Biking: April 25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Don't forget, register your bike

If you bring a bike to campus, be sure to register it at the TLC or Folsom Bike Stations during open hours or online at bikeindex.org. The registration process is quick, easy and free!

Registering your bike allows you to access free maintenance assistance on campus, and CUPD and other agencies will be able to help locate your bike if it’s stolen and recovered. You can protect your bike from theft by locking it with a U-lock to a designated bike rack—exchange your used cable bike lock for a new U-lock at the Environmental Center in UMC 355 or one of the bike stations.

Buffalo Bicycle Classic: Ride for a great cause

Thinking about signing up for a bike event this year? Be Mobile readers can get $20 off registration for the Buffalo Bicycle Classic with coupon code BEMOBILE. This annual �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder cycling event and scholarship fundraiser offers routes for all abilities, with select routes giving riders the rare chance to bike up Boulder Canyon while it’s closed to vehicle traffic. Bonus: form a team of 10 or more riders and each rider will receive an additional $15 refunded to their credit card once the 10th person registers. Ride solo or with friends, and support scholarships for �鶹��Ѱ��students along the way.

Join the SnowBusters program to support seniors who face challenges clearing snow from sidewalks around their home, which can lead to fines. Check out how the �鶹��Ѱ��community is leading sustainability efforts by stopping by the UMC on April 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you would like to contribute your findings, submit your proposal for the Sustainability Summit by March 30. You can also nominate sustainability leaders in the �鶹��Ѱ��community by completing the Campus Sustainability Award Nomination Form by March 15.

We’ve made some improvements to our transportation website to make important information clearer and easier to access. Updates include streamlined guidance for authorized drivers on campus and clearer �鶹��Ѱ��vehicle accident procedures. Take a moment to review campus vehicle updates—before you’re ever in a situation where you need them.

Bikes

Learn to bike safely with the Smart Cycling Clinic

Get up to date with safe riding tips by attending the Smart Cycling Clinic on March 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Folsom Bike Station on the west side of Engineering. Along with a fun ride, we’ll go over the basics of riding in traffic, path etiquette, basic bike safety check and more! This is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike). If you bring a BCycle, we’ll be sure to make stops at BCycle stations so you are not charged a time fee. Can't make it in person? Check out the Smart Cycling Online Course by the League of American Bicyclists to get the know-how on bike safety.

�鶹��Ѱ��Graduate and Family Housing residents, get your bike repaired and registered at Newton Court

Live in Graduate and Family Housing? Join the free bicycle repair and registration at Newton Court on April 7 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We'll be near the playground on the north side of the practice field. Here is the Google Maps link for the Newton Court bike event.

Winter biking on campus

Biking doesn’t have to stop in winter (especially this winter!) Even on a snowy day, with a little extra preparation, cycling can still be a great way to get around campus. As temperatures drop and daylight changes, remember to allow extra travel time, stay visible, and ride with winter conditions in mind. Check conditions before you go and plan a route that works for you. Need a backup? The Buff Buses and Buff Ride are always there when weather doesn’t cooperate.

Going to the airport for the holidays?

Students, join the Sustainable Transportation Subcommittee

This CUSG E-board transportation subcommittee is a continuation of the work going into the Transportation Demand Management Plan, advocating for effective uses of the transportation budget and how to meet the Climate Action Plan’s emission goals. We invite guest speakers and are working on outreach and engagement, assessment, budgetary recommendations, policy and special projects.

Join the Sustainable Transportation Subcommittee on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. or reach out to chair Ashton.Tribble@colorado.edu with questions and to be added to scheduling for 2026 meetings.

Take public transit to explore the high country

Heading out to the mountains this season? The Bustang's West Line service and Pegasus express shuttle service connects travelers to Idaho Springs, Vail and more. The Snowstang service provides transportation directly to ski resorts, including Breckenridge and Copper Mountain. To travel up and down U.S. 40, take the Outrider Craig–Denver service. On Dec. 19, the Amtrak Winter Park Express will start, which travels between Denver and the Winter Park Resort. Take the 2025 �鶹��Ѱ��Transportation Survey for a chance to win a $100 shopping spree

Survey says that less than 30% of the �鶹��Ѱ��community drives alone to campus. These are strong numbers but they are no longer accurate. Our last university-wide survey predated COVID, new micromobility options and increased work-from-home rates. This fall’s �鶹��Ѱ��Transportation Survey is important to our transportation work and efforts to track our greenhouse gas impacts.

This is where you come in! More than 9,000 lucky people received an email on Oct. 28 titled, “Transportation and Sustainability Feedback,” that includes a link to our �鶹��Ѱ��Transportation Survey, unique to each participant. If you received it, take the survey by Nov. 14 and you will be entered to win a $100 shopping spree at the �鶹��Ѱ��Bookstore.

Give your input for the Boulder County Transit Plan

Boulder County is creating its first Transit Plan, called "Linking Boulder County," and is launching a survey to learn about residents' experiences with public transit and their feedback. The project team is holding pop-up events, and their dates and locations are on the Linking Boulder County project website. Don't forget to submit your thoughts in the Transit Needs Survey by Nov. 20.

�鶹��Ѱ��Boulder launches campus safety app: �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder Safe

�鶹��Ѱ��Boulder's Division of Public Safety (DPS) has launched a new mobile safety app, �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder Safe. The app is designed to centralize emergency alerts, safety tools and campus resources—making it easier for students, faculty and staff to find everything they need in one place. The app also includes all of �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder's transit info and maps, including a link to the Transit app. �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder Safe is free for campus affiliates and available on both iOS and Android devices. Resurfacing between 28th St. and Cherryvale Road for better accessibility

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun a resurfacing project on Colorado Highway 7 (Arapahoe Avenue) between 28th Street and Cherryvale Road until late December. This project will implement ADA upgrades and convert underutilized right-through lanes into shared curbside lanes for buses and right-turning vehicles. Traffic impacts are available on the CDOT CO 7 Resurfacing project website.

Don't forget: Late night Buff Bus service for Will Vill route

Via buses run on the Will Vill route from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday when campus is open. These all-black buses will arrive at stops every 12 to 15 minutes, with the last bus leaving Will Vill at 1 a.m.

�鶹��Ѱ��Boulder Vanpool Program passes 20 vans

With the partnership of Commute with Enterprise, the university's Vanpool Program now has 21 vans in its fleet. If you are a �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder employee, affiliate or contractor, check out the �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder Vanpool Program website to save money on parking and other costs during your campus commute.

The League of American Bicyclists is looking for input in its decision to designate �鶹��Ѱ��Boulder as a Bicycle Friendly University. Support our sustainable transportation efforts and submit your feedback on campus bicycling conditions by Oct. 5.
