Last month’s trivia answer: If you encounter a mountain lion while biking/hiking, Colorado Parks and Wildlife provides the following recommendations:

• Do not turn your back to the lion as this can trigger their hunting instincts.Ìý
• Stay calm and move slowly, but make sure to face the lion and stand upright.
• Do not approach the lion. Most mountain lions will try to avoid a confrontation.
• Stop or back away slowly (do not turn your back to the lion), if possible.Ìý
• Appear as large as possible. If you are traveling with children, make sure to bring them close.
• If the lion attacks, fight back. This is not the ideal situation, of course, but if worseÌýcomes to worst, use all available resources to fend off the lion.
