Christy Heaton serves as Assistant Vice Provost in the Office of Undergraduate Education and provides strategic leadership to the undergraduate academic experience, which includes campus residential learning communities (RLCs) and the Program in Exploratory Studies (PES).Ìý

She is responsible for collaborating and coordinating cross-campus first-year research seminars, learning outcomes, curriculum assessment collaboration, mid-term alerts, CU-101, and retention campaigns such as Early Alert. Christy leads student data and assessment processes to support student success. She works closely with OUE leadership and campus partners, including advising units, deans’ offices, Student Life, Enrollment Management, the Registrar, OIT, and the Office of Data Analytics.Ìý

Christy has worked in higher education for 20 years. Prior to Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder, she worked at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØDenver for nine years where she had oversight over student transition and family engagement areas, including first-year experiences (FYE), peer mentoring, pre-collegiate access, orientation, and TRIO. Other areas of work focus have included: First Generation student support and success, first year advising, transfer student initiatives, leadership development, and student success. She has taught in FYE programs since 2007 and teaches leadership and organization classes to upper division students and graduate students. ÌýChristy is originally from Illinois where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in communications and theatre from Illinois College and a master’s degree from Western Illinois University. She obtained her PhD at the University of New Orleans. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with exchange students her family hosts.Ìý
