Position description
The MENV program is seeking a first or second-year MENV student to serve as a Graduate Student Assistant (GSA) to assist the MENV Director and Leadership Team with the implementation of the MENV strategic plan. Developed across the 25/26AY, the MENV strategic plan provides programmatic direction for the next five years (2026-2031). This GSA position will play an instrumental role in helping faculty and staff implement identified actions necessary to outline objectives and key goals. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working strategically at a programmatic level in close coordination with faculty, staff, program GSAs, and external stakeholders (within and outside of the university). 

Roles and responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities will include a combination of the following (what is prioritized year-to-year will change):

  • General Strategic Planning Implementation Support
    • Attending and contributing to MENV Leadership/faculty/staff meetings related to strategic planning implementation
    • Writing, editing, and/or proofreading communications and meeting summaries
    • Organizing and maintaining strategic planning documents and folders
    • Project managing and tracking of strategic planning actions
    • Supporting the collection, analysis, and reporting of data required to measure success across objectives and key goals
    • Assisting with MENV program events outlined in the MENV strategic plan
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Management
    • Supporting MENV Leadership in their outreach and engagement of relevant stakeholders (within and across the university and external to the university)
    • Meeting coordination and scheduling
    • Preparing materials for faculty and staff engagement on strategic planning implementation
  • Research and Report Writing
    • Conducting research and analysis to contribute to reports/plans that need to be developed, as outlined in the MENV strategic plan. T
    • Designing and developing report/plan templates for programmatic use
    • Collating information from across MENV and the university to inform reports/plans
    • Developing the annual MENV Impact Report, Sustainability Hub Plan, Employee Development and Support Plan, Alumni Collective Plan, and Donor Engagement and Fundraising Plan, in collaboration with MENV faculty and staff, and other program GSAs

What we require:

  • Incoming 1st year or current 2nd year MENV student
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Availability for 10 hours a week across the Fall and Spring semesters

  • CANVA SKILLS: You have basic familiarity with Canva and the ability to create flyers, programs, and other materials (or are excited to learn).

What we can offer:
The hourly wage for this position starts at $24/hour for approximately 10 hours a week throughout the academic year. More information on  can be found here.
