Address & U.S. phone number update requirement for F-1 and J-1 visa status holders

Address Updates

Have you recently changed your U.S. address or are you planning a move to a new location?

  • To maintain F-1 or J-1 student visa status, federal regulations require students to report any address changes within 10 days of moving. ÌýÌý

The address you report should be where you are living, even if it is temporary. Do not use a P.O. box, a Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØcampus address, or a friend’s address (unless you are staying with them). To comply with the F-1 regulation address requirements, be sure you check your  a²Ô»å update your local mailing address if needed.

¸é±ð³¾±ð³¾²ú±ð°ù: 

  • F1/J1 international = address in home country 
  • Local address = local address in the U.S. Ìý

Phone Numbers

It is important for ISSS to always have a valid U.S. phone number on file for you.Ìý

If you have a U.S. phone number, update your Buff Portal using the format XXX-XXX-XXXX.Ìý

  • Do not include (+), (1), or any country code when entering your number.

Be sure to mark your U.S. number as your preferred number in the Buff Portal.
