Norovirus
Norovirus, more commonly known as the 鈥渟tomach flu鈥, is highly contagious and spreads quickly. Help keep yourself and others safe with these tips. 听
Campus Update:
Medical Services has seen cases of vomiting and diarrhea, which can be symptoms of Norovirus. However, we have not see an increase in the number of patients presenting with these symptoms in February.听
Symptoms to watch for:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Stomach cramping
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Body aches
- Chills
Prevention tips:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water; hand sanitizer is not effective against Norovirus, so hand washing is preferred
- Use bleach-containing products to disinfect areas contaminated with vomit or stool
- Wash contaminated clothing and linens with hot water and dry on high heat
- Do not share food, drinks, lip products, e-cigarettes (e.g. JUULs) or other smoking devices
- If you use a communal bathroom, alert maintenance staff that you are ill with norovirus
