Follow these health and safety tips during your trip
- Stretch or walk during long flights to prevent blood clotsÌý
- Wash hands often or use hand sanitizer to avoid illness and diarrheaÌý
- Leave expensive clothing, jewelryÌýand electronics at homeÌý
- If confronted, put your personal safety first: remain calmÌýand give up replaceable items (like a passport)Ìý
- Use caution in crowded areas where robberies may be commonÌý
- Stick to well-lit main roads whenever possibleÌý
- Use condoms with all partners to minimize STI riskÌý
- Stay aware of your surroundings, especially if consuming alcoholÌý
- Use only registered, well-signed taxis and transportation servicesÌý
After your trip, ask your provider which medical considerations apply
- Complete any vaccination series as neededÌý
- See your provider for a TB test three months after you returnÌýÌý
- If you were in a country with malaria risk and develop a fever, seek medical attention immediatelyÌý
