Graduation deadlines for summer 2023

June 15
Graduate students who have not already done so mustÌýapply online to graduateÌýthroughÌýÌýon the “apply for graduationâ€� card in order toÌýhave the degree awarded in August.ÌýThis is required even though there is no university-wide ceremony.ÌýPhD students must enter their dissertation title as part of the online graduation application; you may update the title through the portal until this date.ÌýThis title will appearÌýon your transcript after your degree is awarded.
June 15​
Master's students must submit to the Graduate School aÌý.ÌýApplications follow a workflow process and must be approved by the academic department before they are directed to the Graduate School.
July
July 25
DoctoralÌýstudents must complete the PhD dissertation defense or final examination by this date.ÌýNotice of the examination must be provided to the Graduate School using theÌýdoctoral final examination formÌýtwo weeks before the exam.
August
Aug. 1
PhD students mustÌýsubmit the dissertationÌýwith the single-page Thesis Approval Form to ProQuest by this deadline. The dissertation must beÌýÌýfor review and approval by Graduate School staff by the end of the business day. TheÌýThesis Approval FormÌý(TAF) must be uploaded as a supplemental file with the dissertation in order for the submission to be complete.ÌýStudents whose dissertationsÌýare received after this deadline, or those not submitted with the TAF,Ìýmust apply to graduate at the following semester'sÌýcommencement.
