Fall checklist
Welcome back, Buffs! If you're starting fall classes on Thursday, Aug. 20, your aid will apply to the bill as early as one week before, on Aug. 13. Just make sure you've completed all your to-do items.ÌýYou may already see tuition charges on your bill, but it's not due until September 5.
Fall dates
- Monday, Aug. 4: 5-payment plan sign-up deadline
- Monday, Aug. 10: Immunizations due
- Thursday, Aug. 13: Financial aid & bill available online
- Monday, Aug. 17:ÌýExcess financial aid returned. Make sure to set up direct deposit!
- Tuesday, Sept. 1: Last day to select/waive health insurance before you're auto-enrolled and billed
- Thursday, Sept. 4: 4-payment plan sign-up deadline
- Friday, Sept. 5: Payment due

- AcceptÌýloans: Scholarships, grants & work-study are auto-accepted for you, but you'll need to accept the loans you want.Ìý

- : Most scholarships require you to enroll full time. You have to enroll at least half time to get federal student loans, and they're adjusted if you enroll less than full time each semester.
- Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status: If you've gotten more than one warning, you won't be eligible to receive aid
ÌýÌýÌýLoan requirements
- If you're taking out a federal loan or a Parent PLUS loan, you must complete:
ÌýÌýGrant access
- Complete theÌýFERPA Consent to ReleaseÌýto let your parentsÌýaccess your financial aid information
- After classes start, federal law limits what schools can discuss about your aid with anyone you didn't approve
- AddÌýanÌýauthorized payerÌýin Buff Portal to allow someone to view & pay your bill
ÌýÌýScholarships
If you have a scholarship, there could be steps you need to take before it'llÌýapply to your fall bill.
- Accept your scholarship: Some scholarships awarded through the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder Scholarship Application may need this step.
- Submit your private scholarship check(s)Ìýto our office by the first day of class, Thursday, August 20.
Other ways to pay your bill
If you're concerned that your aid won't pay enough of your bill, many students and families use the following to bridge the gap.
- Payment plan:ÌýStudents, or their authorized payers, may enroll in a payment plan if they meet the eligibility requirements.Ìý
- Borrow a loan: You may want to consider aÌýParent PLUS loanÌýorÌýprivate loan. The process takes a few weeks. If you act now, you may still be able to cover your fall bill before late fees are added after September. Apply each semester you need the loan. For private loans, timing can vary depending on your lender. Once your private loan is certified by our office, it will take 10 to 12 business days before it helps pay your bill.
