Established in 2014, the awards have become one of the most prestigious recognitions of leading sustainability practice in education in the world. The aim of the awards is to share lessons learned and examples of excellent sustainability practice with education institutions worldwide.

In 2010, Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØwas a founding member of the Green Sports Alliance, the leading association for sustainability in the sports industry. With our involvement in the GSA, we are able to share best practices and experience with major sports leagues, clubs, and governing bodies. The GSA exemplifies the power of sports to advance climate action in non-political environments with an emphasis on team work and collective action.

Ìýin 2017 RGS students Monica Rowand and Andrew Cahil collaborated with the GSA and hostedÌý 3 day conference at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØto create the Fan Engagement Playbook - the sports industry’s leading guide for organizations who want to engage their fans in positive climate focused education, awareness, and action.Ìý

Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØwas a driving force of the foundation of Pac-12 Team Green, the first conference wide commitment to sustainability in the NCAA. With the disbanding of the PAC-12, Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØis no longer a part of this team.

Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØwas the first North American University to , following the likes of the Golden State Warriors, the NBA, and AEG. This commitment solidifies our view of the importance of collaboration for climate action and the role that sports industry can take in that effort.
