Elizabeth Shackelford is a distinguished lecturer with the Dickey Center at Dartmouth College and a foreign affairs columnist for the Chicago Tribune. She is also a senior advisor to the Institute for Global Affairs at Eurasia Group and is currently co-writing "How US Foreign Policy Really Works," a forthcoming book with Stanford University Press. She previously served as a senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and was a career diplomat with the U.S. Department of State. Shackelford is also the author of "The Dissent Channel: American Diplomacy in a Dishonest Age," winner of the Douglas Dillon Book Award.
