Sabbatical Fellows
The Benson Center invites applications for sabbatical researchers to visit and serve as Sabbatical Fellows on an ongoing basis. Faculty in fields or with sabbatical projects relating to politically heterodox programs, ideas and activities are especially encouraged to apply. Sabbatical Fellows are expected to make progress on a substantial research project during their time in residence. In addition, they are encouraged to participate in the various activities of the Center, including faculty and student seminars, colloquia, and public lectures. Sabbatical Fellows will be appointed as a Visiting Researcher, given office space in the Center, and University of Colorado privileges. This position is eligible for a multi-line hire with two separate start dates. Applicants for spring 2026 and any portion of the academic year 2026-27 will be considered. Applicants should make every effort to bring their own funding to remain in residence. If such support is not possible, candidates with part-time support can apply for additional support from the Benson Center to match the home institution’s contribution. The number of sabbatical researchers the Center hires depends on available funding and may vary year to year.
The application for 2026-27ÌýSabbatical Fellows remains open. Completed Ph.D. or a doctoral degree in progress with a dissertation defense date scheduled is required. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. For full consideration, please apply by October 15, 2025. The application will remain open until the position is filled.

- Executive summary of your proposed project (up to 200 words)
- A statement indicating the sort of financial support needed
