    For Svetlana Alexievich, this year's winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, the Soviet Union is a kind of ‘historical Chernobyl that still produces contamination and radiation—psychological, historical, political and cultural,’ CU-Boulder expert Mark Leiderman observes.
