Admitted students wishing to change majors must do so through the Office of Admissions. You can log into your application status page, and there you should see an option to submit a major change request form. Please complete that form to be considered. If you already changed your major once and are trying to request a second major change, please contact your admissions counselor.

Should I request to switch to Exploratory Studies?

No, it is recommended you remain in the College of Arts & Sciences, which is a degree-granting college. Exploratory Studies is not, and you would eventually be required to transfer back out of that program.

Should I stay Open Option, or should I choose an Arts & Sciences major?

It is recommended you choose an A&S major when confirming your enrollment. This ensures progress towards degree requirements from the start of your time at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder. That said, you may have financial considerations. For example, tuition for a Natural Sciences major in A&S is higher than Open Option tuition.

How do I pursue an eventual transfer out of Arts & Sciences and into my desired college/school?

Thoroughly review the Intra-University Transfer (IUT) website, including the specific information for your desired college/school.

If I decide to declare an Arts & Sciences major, are there any in particular that would help facilitate my IUT?

We are most commonly asked about transferring into the Leeds School of Business and the College of Engineering and Applied Science. As you can see from their IUT requirements, the Economics major could be beneficial for students pursuing an eventual transfer into Business. The Mathematics or Physics majors could be beneficial for students pursuing an eventual transfer into Engineering.

Who can I talk to if I still have questions about all of this?

Connect with your admissions counselor. We understand you may want specific/in-depth academic advising to feel confident in your plan, and that can certainly happen after you confirm your intent to enroll and officially matriculate at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder.

We love that admitted students are eager to engage with us! However, we are not able to offer academic advising appointments to admitted students. You will be assigned to an academic advisor and can access advising appointments after you have confirmed your intent to enroll and officially matriculated (i.e. you transition from being an admitted student to being an incoming student). Please rest assured that there will be plenty of time to connect with your assigned advisor for specific advising after you matriculate!
