Please join Mark Sirangelo as he welcomes Robert Lightfoot to Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder for a fascinating seminar and Q&A on Lockheed Martin’s future, what technologies they are investing in and what work opportunities may exist for you.ÌýWe will also hear about Robert’s decades in NASA’s leadership, his views on the future of NASA and the space industry.

Robert Lightfoot is the president of Lockheed Martin Space and an officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation. ÌýIn this capacity, he leads the Space business, which is a more than $11 billion enterprise employing more than 22,000 people globally. The LM Space portfolio provides advanced technology systems for national security, civil and commercial customers.Ìý It includes integrated systems for satellites, human spaceflight, strategic and missile defense, satellite command and control, sensor and data processing including predictive analytics and big data applications, space observatories and interplanetary robotic spacecraft, and a range of sensing, communications, and exploration payloads.

Previously, Lightfoot served as vice president of Operations for Lockheed Martin Space and was responsible for production operations, including assembly, test and launch operations (ATLO), supply chain, quality, program management and all facilities, logistics, and security services. He also served as vice president of Strategy and Business Development. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin in 2019, he served as the president of LSINC Corporation.

Lightfoot spent 29 years at NASA, where he rose to serve as Associate Administrator, the agency’s highest-ranking civil service position and was, for a time, the Acting NASA Administrator. ÌýPreviously he was the Director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and the Director of Propulsion Test at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. ÌýRobert has also engaged on key special missions including the Space Shuttle’s return to flight following the Columbia tragedy.

Robert is an engineer by training having earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama where he is a Distinguished Departmental Fellow for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, a College of Engineering fellow, and previously served on the University’s Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board.Ìý He has been inducted into the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame in 2010, and received numerous awards during his NASA career, including the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Executives, the highest honor for federal government work, in 2006, 2010, and 2016.

Mark N. Sirangelo created and hosts the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØFuture Insight Seminar Series as CU’s Entrepreneur-Scholar in Residence.

Previously he was Special Assistant to the NASA Administrator helping to develop NASA’s return to the Moon.Ìý Mark was the founding executive and head of Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space Systems which has participated in over 300 space & aerospace missions to date.Ìý He has served as the Chief Innovation Officer of Colorado and is the State’s appointee to the Colorado Energy Research Collaboratory.
